The saga of the slow and steady farmhouse update continues. We’ve focused on the upstairs area for the last couple of years. Working on our master bedroom, the half bath, the girl’s shared bedroom and then the boy’s shared bedroom. Now we are working on the hallway to help wrap up the upstairs space.
The hallway update started with a solid and beautiful barn style door in a shade of white. This door was given to me by my friends at Wayfair and is the perfect upgrade to our builder basic pocket door. You can view this, and the other styles of sliding doors, over here. I love how heavy and sturdy the door is, and the hardware will definitely stand up for many years to come. I should also note, this does not have a lock on the door (which we knew about ahead of time) so we cannot lock our bathroom door. For us this is no big deal with the half bathroom. But something to take into consideration when you are deciding where to put a sliding barn door.
This is the first sliding barn door that we have installed in our home and I love the farmhouse touch it brings to the hallway, while the white still gives it that modern touch. To give you a feeling of just how much of an update this is for the hallway here is the before and after comparison.
And because we had to take out some trim to install the door I decided it was the right time to add the faux shiplap to that wall in the hallway. I’m surprised at how easy it is to hang the faux shiplap, as well as how inexpensive the upgrade is in the space! The perfect win-win. Details on installing the faux shiplap are coming soon!
Thoughts on the hallway update? The white on the walls combined with the white door make me so happy! Makes the small hallway space feel that much larger.
