When I was first married I had never had a cup of coffee. But with the birth of our second child and teaching full time, all during the harvest season, I decided it was time to like coffee. Five years later and I can’t pass up a cup of coffee. Or a latte. And during that time I’ve also developed a fondness for expensive Starbucks coffee. Sadly it’s true. I even buy their light roast beans and grind my own beans at home. Kind of hard to go back to cheaper beans after that.
Now if you have been following along with this series, or know me and where I live, you are probably getting a good laugh out of this one. I live in a county that doesn’t have any fast food, or traffic lights, or supermarkets. Kind of a bad place to be if you love Starbucks coffee.
But, I am thankful we have a locally owned coffee shop about 10 minutes from my house, and another that is open three days a week about 5 minutes away. And bonus, I love to support small businesses! I just remember to grab a bag of my coffee beans and a venti latte when I’m near a Starbucks. I’ve said it to others before, if I could just get a super Target and a Starbucks about 10 minutes away from my home I would live in the best place on earth. But, I guess it just makes me appreciate the Target trip and Starbucks pumpkin spice latte that much more! {And in all reality I do not need the crazy number of calories in a venti every day. And my wallet probably wouldn’t survive a Target close by.}
So what about you? Any little indulgences that you take for granted? Something you wish was closer to you? There are days I admit I really just want a Starbucks coffee and feel like the country is an inconvenience. But you know what? It really is not. I should view Starbucks as a treat, not a requirement in my life. In the mean time I am thankful for the local coffee shops and their delicious iced coffee in the summer and piping hot lattes in the winter. And now I think I need to go grind some beans and put on a pot of coffee.
May you appreciate the convinces around you today, whatever they may be,
