This April I am so excited to take part in the One Room Challenge. This challenge is about updating a room over the course of five weeks. Each spring over 200 bloggers link up their renovations and we get to see the entire process, from inspiration to completed spaces.
So this year I am going to tackle our small entranceway. I picked this small space for two reasons:
- It’s small – and I’m scared I won’t finish a big space in time. (honesty here)
- It’s the entrance to our home and what many see when they first arrive.
Our little garage-ramp-turned-mudroom had its moment of fame. But with time I am finding the desire to tone everything down in our home, including the colors in the entranceway.
My inspiration for updating this space is coming from a few places. They all represent the farmhouse feel that I am going for in the space and bring in architectural details as well as a more neutral pallet.
I love this skinny and simple take on board and batten. I have plans to add this in some way to the space.
There will be a DIY project near the end of the makeover that is inspired by this Magnolia Farms tray. My favorite features are the handles as well as the simple stamping along the side.
This mirror gives us a chance to check our reflection on the way out the door while still being narrow enough for the space.
And if you have joined the ORC before and survived I’d also love any tips! Make sure you check back next week for a new update. And to see more room challenges from guest bloggers you can head over to the link up.

Love your inspiration Becky! It’s the perfect space to tackle, no matter the size! I like the smoke ember grey but I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them! Cheering you on!

A mudroom is something I hope to finally have whenever we can move to the “country”… hopefully this year. 🙂 Your “mudroom” looks wonderful… I really like those large horizontal stripes and how they help define the area…..
