I have decided to challenge myself as I begin the month of October and I have signed up for the Nester's 31 day challenge. oh my… writing about one topic every single day in the month of October. I'm secretly hoping that this will really help push me to focus on the joy in writing each day. I am hoping to continue with some family posts, my lately posts and craft and tutorial posts as well. But we will just have to see how this goes.
My topic for the month is City Girl to Farm Wife. If you have not met me before, and have not read the About Me section, I am originally from Michigan. While I am not from a metropolis, I did have plans to move to a big city, and I enjoyed the luxuries living in a town can bring. But I met my farmer while I was in college and now I live in the northeast corner of Iowa. And so I'm going to spend the 31 days of October documenting the differences between being a city girl and a farm wife.

Day 1 // Just what is fall?
Beautiful fall. My most favorite season of all. I loved the beginning of a new school year. The fresh start that comes with fall. A little relief from the hot summer weather. Warm days and crisp evenings. Football season. Cozy sweaters, warm boots, soft scarves. Pumpkins in every beautiful shade of orange and white. Delicious apples and fresh cider. Savory comfort food. Leaves absolutely bursting with stunning reds and oranges. The building excitement of the holiday season. More time indoors with family during the longer evenings.
Seriously, it is the best season of all. Who doesn't love fall?
And then I married my farmer………… oh. my.
Now fall means one thing: harvest. The season to work like a mad man. The season of not enough sleep and too much coffee. Praying there isn't too much rain, making the corn too wet. Praying there isn't snow, burying the corn. Praying for my farmer climbing up and down tall bins all day long, driving tractors and semis. Working in all sorts of crazy conditions. Family meals take on new shape. And farmer wives everywhere are doing what they can to manage without their husbands for weeks. Starting my 10th fall season as a farmer wife I now feel a little more prepared for the craziness that is fall. And I am enjoying the season a little more each year. But fall no longer brings to mind images of pumpkins and leaves and apples. Just corn. Rows and rows of corn.
Enjoy some beautiful fall colors for me today,

It’s like you can read my mind. It is actually my intention this fall to enjoy more of the non harvest parts of the season! π

What a drastic transition from city girl to farm wife! I was a farm girl when I was little, but I don’t remember much. Now I live in suburbia π
