One of my goals for 2019 is to finally tackle projects I have been putting off for way too long. Half-baked ideas that really aren’t that time-consuming. And yet I just don’t seem to take the time to get them checked off the list.
The table in our kitchen has taken a beating since we purchased it over 10 years ago. And on top of the scratches and wobbly legs, the style of the table legs and the chairs no longer fit the style of our home. So I set out to overhaul the entire table and chairs without selling the entire set. We made some big changes to the table (more on that later), and we decided to swap out the counter height chairs for new chairs.

I headed over to Wayfair to search for a chair that was the right height and width and showed off our love for modern farmhouse design.
The idea of leather or faux leather chairs stood out to me because I know they can easily be wiped clean. It’s the perfect compromise when you want a comfortable seat, but have young kids that are always climbing and spilling. We settled on these Lafayette counter height chairs. They have a smaller profile which is perfect for the smaller sized kitchen and allows two chairs to fit along the one side of the table perfectly. I also love that the matte black legs tie in nicely with the black chairs in the dining room.
There a couple more changes coming up to this little nook in the kitchen and then we will be ready to show you the full before and after. And in the meantime, next week we will share the DIY steps we took for changing the table from beat up and boring to dark and classy.
This stool and so many other great styles can be found over at Wayfair. And if you love this table update you should check out the DIY update on our extra large farmhouse dining table.
