This past week our fabulous giveaway for a free room design ended and a winner was selected. The winner wants help with their living room, which features built-in bookshelves and two sets of french doors. I’m excited to share peeks into the design process with you over the next few days, and today we are starting off with the mood board.
the first step in the e-design process: gathering information.
When we begin working together on a room design the first step is to gather all of the information from you. This includes measurements, items that need to be stored in the space, your wish list and pictures of your design preference (from Pinterest or other sources).
step 2: creating your mood board.
After all of the information has been gathered I put together a mood board. This is similar to a cork board filled with your inspiration. I select a color pallet for the room and gather images that represent your style and colors. This does not mean that all of the items in the mood board will go in the room, it is a guide. Your chance to tell me if I am on the right track.
Let’s take a peek at the mood board for the traditional living room. She is looking for neutrals, tufted furniture, and hints of green and blue.
Next up is creating 3D images of the room, and deciding placement of furniture and places for organizing necessary items, and finally create the design pages and sourcing items.

wishing you the best, xo
