Last fall I had the fabulous opportunity to hear Lara Casey speak at the Influence Conference. It was one of those moments that you don't forget. As she shared her story I realized that there are so many fears in my life that are keeping me from moving forward. Moving forward with my blog, forward in my marriage, forward in our home, forward in spiritual growth. Fear is what seems to paralyze me. I also realized that I am not alone. I was in a room full of women who had creative passions like mine, but they all knew the power of fear. Some were able to move beyond it, others were stuck in a place of fear.
I realized I was sitting still because of my fear of failure.
Fear of mocking.
Fear of negativity.
Fear of letting others down.
Fear that I won't know what to do next.
But I also realized that on the other side of that fear is my purpose. The reasons why I am here. The jobs I have been given to do. Being a wife and mother. A child of God. A small business owner with the desire to encourage women.
Some days are more heavily laden with fear than others. It is not a one time conquering of fear and then you are set for life. It takes continual renewal to live with purpose instead of fear.
But God Himself tells us that He did not give us a spirit of fear.
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidy, but of power, love, and self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7
This year Lara Casey released a book titled Make It Happen. I am working my way through the book, and I know that it is going to only help me further my desire to leave fear behind and live on purpose! This isn't a book just for those in the business world. It's a book about fears and purpose. Something we each know something about. And I know that this book would be a wonderful gift for anyone you want to see grow. So it only makes sense for me to give this book away to one of you. The book is described as being for:
- women who find themselves worried, anxious, and completely overwhelmed by the constant chase for perfection.
- those seeking the courage to jump into a new venture
- working women who are struggling to "do it all"
- weary wives and moms looking for relief from burning the candle at both ends
- anyone who dreams of a life lived not by accident, but on purpose1
I can't help but think that every single woman who reads this blog fits into one of those categories. And so I hope you will take a minute to enter the giveaway for this book. We all have a purpose in our life, a reason God has placed us here at this moment. But living it out takes courage.
