Yesterday I shared with you how I took a well made nightstand and gave it a makeover to fit the look of our bedroom. Finding a well made piece is such a treasure because you know you are putting your time and resources into something that will hold up for years to come. You will want to check out the way this nightstand looked when I first purchased it, and what I did to give it a whole new look.
Today I am sharing with you how I styled the nightstand in a time lapse video, showing you just how much I rearrange before deciding what fits best. Watch the clip below and then read on to see what I am looking for when styling.
When I was setting up the nightstand I wanted it to be both beautiful and functional. I know that the light, books that he is reading, and his lotion all needed to be on the table. From there it was a matter of what else should I add to the table.

5 Tips to help you style your nightstand:
- Remember to start with what you need in the space first, then add to the vignette from there.
- Decide what colors you want in the space. All neutrals? Neutrals and a pop of color? Make sure you take into account what colors are already in the room.
- Shop around your house. My favorite part! You may already have the items you need for the space, just in a different spot in your home.
- Don't forget about the wall space. Remember, you can decorate vertically, not just horizontally.
- And if you find yourself stuck in a rut, 5 minutes on Pinterest may be all the inspiration you need! Search for vignette's on Pinterest. Grab a piece of paper and pencil and jot down items you see styled there that you can find in your home.
Above all else, make sure that you love the look of your space. If you love simple modern pieces, use them. Love rusty old items? Gather them up and start styling. The more you practice rearranging and styling the more confident you will become. If you have any other great tips for styling a space I would love to hear them in the comments section!

I love this, Becky! I have to say, I giggled at the number of times you moved those small things around, but I do the same thing! Just funny to see it sped up. 🙂
