One of my favorite trends right now is cement tiles with bold patterns. They seem to be popping up in bathrooms and kitchens everywhere. The tiles bring bold patterns in neutral colors that I just can’t help but love. I’m currently pinning every single pattern tile on this post over at The Sweetest Occasion. I wanted to use these awesome patterns in my front porch update, but I just wasn’t sure I wanted to tile the space.
So when Cutting Edge Stencils gave me the chance to review one of their stencils I found the perfect one for creating a cement tile look. The Tea House Trellis stencil was used on my cement floor, and the final result is a cement tile look for a fraction of the cost!
To begin I prepped and painted my cement floor the dark gray color. You can read more about painting cement floors over on this post.
After that came time for the detailed work of using the stencil. My floor did not perfectly fit a set number of stencils so I decided to start off with the complete stencil along the open edge of our floor and work the way over to the wall, ending with a partial stencil print.
Because I was working to keep my stencil straight I used a tape measure to ensure that the edge of my stencil was staying the same number of inches away from the wall. Painters tape was used to help hold the stencil in place. You can see more great tips on how to stencil on this post.
Still love the blush front door!
My arrangement of potted flowers makes the whole porch feel more welcoming. You can see more of my favorite modern farmhouse flower pots over here.
I am thrilled with the final result of my porch floor, the stencil gave me exactly the look I was going for. Just two more small projects for the front porch, waiting for the couch to arrive, and then the space will be done!

Thanks for the great instructions. Did you use a sealant over the stencil?
Becky says
I didn’t seal it because the paint is made specifically for use on cement. You can purchase a sealant if you are concerned about how well it will last.

What paint and roller did you use for the stencil? The link you have for tips on how to stencil is not working.
Becky says
Thanks for letting me know the link wasn’t working! I used Valspar Latex Porch and Floor paint from Lowes. The roller was a small roller from Cutting edge stencils: http://www.cuttingedgestencils.com/foam_roller_stenciling.html

I see someone else asked my question as well. Did you apply a seal over stencil design. My porch even with proper paint type tends to wear fast…
Becky says
I did not use a sealant. So far it is holding up really well. I do know that you can use a seal if you are concerned that it may wear off.

Hey Becky! Loving your door color, do you remember what brand and color it was?
Becky says
Yep! The color is Sweetened Plum (3016) from the HGTV line for Sherwin Williams at Lowes. You can find it over on this post: https://www.homestead128.com/soft-pink-front-door/

What color did you use for your gray and white?
