If you are moving from a town or city to the area where I live you would find out just what generosity looks like. Yes, there are people in the city who are generous. I know many. But out here it is more of a lifestyle, than an exception. Today especially I have been overwhelmed by seeing generosity in action around me.
We are currently preparing for an adoption fundraiser garage sale and I’ve posted that we are taking donations, any items that people are looking to get off their hands. I am amazed at the people who are offering items. People who are doing their best to find items for us to sell, and help raise the money needed for the upcoming payment. And people who are willing to help set up, bring tables, tear down, advertise. These people owe me nothing. But they are willing to give of their time and possessions to help us. So very generous.
And there is an amazing woman who, at the moment I type this, is nearing the end of her life. Granny is surrounded by her family. Family who have traveled long distances. There are so many people in our beautiful community who are willing to help them out. Give of their time this weekend to help meet their physical needs, so the family can focus on the time left with her. Generosity in a practical form.
Generosity does not just mean giving huge amounts of money. It is giving of your resources, regardless of what they may be. And out here I am amazed at how many people have this generous spirit. They will do what they can to help meet the needs of others.
I hope you have the chance to experience this kind of generosity first hand. But if you live in a community where you do not feel a sense of giving, make the choice to change that. Who can you give to today?
