This month I find myself completely focused on prepping for our first big sale at The Barn On 128. We spent the last year clearing out an unused barn on our farm, whitewashing the walls and hanging lighting. So this year I decided it might be nice to host a little sale in the barn. While there is going to be a sale this month, I not so sure about the little part. Wow there are a lot of barn-sale-junk-loving-fanatics around here! The sale will house vendors from around the state who have a similar interest in repurposing, finding hidden gems in junk piles, and creating beautiful decor for homes.
So while I buckle down and work on creating an amazing event that will be a smashing success I am also trying to fit in time to create a few things for a vendor booth of my own. (And fit in an occasional blog post. Please be understanding if you don’t see too much of me this month!) The Hello Love banner below will be for sale at the barn, as well as other similar felt banners that I am currently working on. But if you can’t make it to the sale, no worries. I have all of the steps you’ll need to create your own banner right here! Take a look.
step one | After deciding on your phrase for the banner cut your felt. Trim the large piece of felt so that the banner comes to a point at the bottom. Then cut the letters out of a different colored piece of felt. For this project I used the Brother Scan And Cut to cut all of my felt. (my affiliate link) HUGE timesaver! I cannot recommend it enough!
This beautiful felt comes from Benzie Design. The place I always order my felt from. The stuff in craft stores just never compares to their color selection or the quality. These colors are from their Sweet Succulents color pallet.

step two | Decide where you want the letters to be placed. A small ruler or level will help you space them out and keep the words straight. Then use a small amount of fabric glue to hold the letters into place.
step three | Use embroidery thread to stitch along the edge of the letters. I used a thread color that was similar to the banner color, which helps it pop against the purple letters.
step four | After your letters are secure flip the banner over and run a small amount of fabric glue to the very top of the banner. Place a wooden dowel just below the glue and fold the felt over the dowel. Hold in place for a minute to help it stick together. Secure the felt by stitching embroidery floss along the top, just under the dowel.
step five | Attach string to the rod for hanging. You can use a few pieces of embroidery floss, twine or yarn to hang the banner. If desired you can add tassels to the sides. You can see how easy it is to create a tassel here.

I’m looking for more fun phrases to put on these banners as I produce them for our big sale. Any suggestions?

Love it, with just enough embroidery to make it interesting but not too time consuming! And on could always add some more embroidered details later. Thanks so much for sharing on craft schooling Sunday!
