Do you ever find yourself questioning if something isn’t supposed to work out after all? Or is it just a challenge to see if you will persevere? While that might seem overly dramatic to associate with a room remodel those are definitely the thoughts that have been going through my mind with the girl’s bedroom design.
But after going through a series of backup plans for this space (I’m talking 5 different options for the feature wall before we settled on painting it a solid color, and also this beadboard DIY mess) the room is complete. And after my website being down for 24 hours, it is back up and I can finally share the final results.
The girls adore the space, and I am pleased that it has touches of preteen and of young girl mixed together. One day it is Barbies, the next day it is dance parties.
The needs for the room update included larger beds, a desk for both girls, ample clothing storage, and toy storage. The goal was to design the space to fit in with our modern farmhouse, while speaking to the girl’s personality. A bold color perfect for the preteen. Chalkboard covered desks, perfect for the 8-year-old doodles. Beadboard ceilings representing the farmhouse. It all came together in a beautiful way, and there were actual squeals from the girls when they got home on the day I wrapped everything up.
A quick reminder of the room before:
And now:
The bunk bed can be found at Wayfair. Suitcases under the bed are for storing kids special mementos and treasures.
The desks are from Ikea, and offer storage space as well as a flat surface for coloring and homework. A chalkboard finish gives the desk a matte finish, and I love the vintage ice cream shop chairs.
Toys were stored in hard sided crates, and pillows added to the top so they can be used as extra seating. A small round rug from HomeGoods separates the space, and light up clips give the girls a place to display their Instax pictures.
The dark pink chair is perfect in the reading nook, which is hiding toy storage in the corner of the room.

Awww, I love this room, and the sign above the bed is so befitting. You used my favorite color in the space, and it makes it come alive, much different than what it was before. Great job!
