I don’t know about you and your household, but around here we love to watch football. It seems that it is on every weekend, and often involves watching with friends. Apparently my girls are now old enough to be embarrassed by my “loud cheering”. (Whatever that means??) I love about watching the football game at home, it gives me the chance to watch with family and friends, and there is always good food involved! Who doesn’t love the football snacks? With the big game coming up I worked on putting together plans for a “Home Bowl”, where my family and friends can watch the game from the comfort of home while enjoying their favorite treats!
Like the football garland? You can check out my simple steps to make one of your own over here!
I went to Target to pick up my supplies for the party. Coca-Cola 6 packs and REESE’S Footballs were top on my list, something I know is always a hit at football parties! Also on my list were paper supplies, extra snacks, and supplies for a couple of quick craft projects I’m going to share with you below. I’m always checking the Cartwheel app when I’m at Target and they had an offer for both the Coca-Cola 6 packs and the REESE’S Footballs – if you click on the links you can add them to your Cartwheel app from your computer or phone.
After I got home I got to work on a couple of quick projects. First up was the football field table runner.
To create the runner I rolled out a long piece of kraft brown gift wrap that I found at Target. Then I used green acrylic paint to paint the length of the paper. After it had dried I added white rectangles at both ends for end zones, and measured out 9 hash marks.
While that was drying I put together the penalty flags.
REESE’S Cups were tucked into the center of large yellow napkins, and then tied closed to represent penalty flags. Now I just need to make sure that no one throws them at the TV when they don’t like the penalty call!
Looking for a great way to hand out your REESE’S Footballs? Check out these football field treat bags.
To make your football field treat bags you will need:
- treat bags
- school glue
- green glitter
- white acrylic paint
- hole punch
- twine
- REESE’S Footballs
Start by brushing on a layer of school glue with a foam brush and then cover with a layer of green glitter.
Once the glue has been given time to dry you can paint on the field hash marks. I used a thin paint brush and white acrylic paint. Some glitter may stick to the paint brush, use a dabbing motion when adding on the paint as opposed to strokes.
Fill the bags with REESE’S Footballs and fold over the bags.
Use the hold punch to punch in two holes and then tie with a piece of twine.
When setting the table I added flags to the straws, table cards for labeling spots on the table, and napkin rings. I’m sharing each of these things with you for your own personal use at your next big football game party!
Included in the download: straw flags, napkin rings, table signs, and a football party planning checklist.
I can’t wait to enjoy our own version of tailgating at home – appropriately nicknamed the “Home Bowl”. It’s sure to be a big hit with lots of friends and family around enjoying the game and of course the delicious food!
