This past weekend was our Barn On 128 Spring Market – which means I am in the midst of trying to recover from the madness that is hosting 1,000 people on our acreage for a weekend. So there isn’t much to report on the room update. I have a couple small DIYs to tackle and some finishing touches to bring into the room. But thankfully this room update didn’t require too much construction work! If you missed the earlier updates you can see earlier progress from week 1, week 2 and week 3.
One thing that did change in the last week was the addition of the rug. We partnered with Wayfair to add this beautiful neutral rug. I love that it brings in some geometric interest perfect for a child’s bedroom.
You can see 3 other black and white rugs from Wayfair, that I love, over on this Facebook post from last week. Rugs are such a great way to add texture to a space and you can always layer them on top of carpet or other rugs!
Here is a quick peek at what we have left to wrap up before the end of the challenge:
- book storage
- drawing station
- basketball hoop
- pictures for personalizing
To see the rest of the ORC challenge participants you can head over to the One Room Challenge website.
See you back next week with the final updates before it is reveal time!

Oh my goodness, I’ve been agonizing over this same rug for the past few days for my room, so your link totally caught my eye! It’s reversible, right? They didn’t do a good job of showing the other side and that’s what I would probably want to use. Does it fade from black to gray in the center? And, I’d be layering mine over carpet too. It looks like yours is heavy enough to not pucker with furniture legs on it…that’s something I was worried about. So glad I saw your post! Thanks for your help, your room is looking great!

Hey Jennifer, I LOVE this rug! It is reversible! It does fade, but the gray colors are very cool, almost blue/purple looking. It still looks awesome in our room, but I was surprised by those strong undertones in the gray. And it is heavy enough it is laying flat under their play table.
