Tell me – what is your favorite color for a front door? A bold red? Or a deep black? Our front door was a dark gray color for the last couple of years, but lately I’ve seen the pink door trend surfacing on Pinterest and finally decided it was time to give it a try for myself. After picking up some samples of pink paint at Lowes I painted a few squares on the door and left them for a few days.
In the end I decided to go with the color that was more of a soft pink, a blush, and it was just what I was looking for. Not a bold pop of color, but instead one that was soft and quietly welcoming. (The fact that I used quiet to describe a paint color tells you just how much I crave quiet of any kind in our house. Tell me someone else can relate?)
The final result? Exactly what I wanted. I am so happy with this paint color!
The color is Sweetened Plum (3016) from the HGTV line for Sherwin Williams at Lowes. I used primer on my door first, so it only took one heavy coat of pink paint and then a few touch up spots, which was all done with one sample jar of paint. So for less than $4 I painted my door!
Thoughts on the pink door? It’s spurring on more changes on the small front porch space so stay tuned for more tutorials and a fun reveal!

I like this a lot. Alas, my house is yellow and I it would like terrible together 🙁

Well you know one project leads to the next… paint the door and then you’ll end up painting the whole house 😉 Or find your own beautiful soft color for the front door.

Obsessed! My house came with a hideous green door that I’ve been dying to change… this looks so pretty!

Well my house came with a forest green roof that is slowly growing on me…. not sure the pink really “goes” with it. But I finally decided to go for it and LOVE it!

This is just so very pretty and definitely makes for a warm and welcoming entry. I have been wanting to paint my boring black door a pale blue green color – but after seeing this – pink just might be the way to go. I love it!!!!
