Who doesn’t love a beautiful looking Easter basket full of delicious treats? All of those delicious candies that come out only during the spring season, they are always a welcome addition to my basket. This year, to take our Easter baskets up a level I decided to take a traditional basket, and paint it in a way that can be used in our home after Easter is over. Take a look at the easy steps and the delicious sweets in the basket.
To paint your own basket you will need:
- A basket (I picked up this beautiful bowl shaped basket at Target!)
- Craft paint in two colors
- Two foam brushes
- Computer printer paper
To begin I cut out a large scallop pattern from my computer printer paper. It’s easy to create this when you use the edge of a cylinder as a stencil.
Cut out enough of these scallops to go around the top edge of the basket.
Tape the scallops around the edge of the basket. Begin with the bottom color and paint along the edges of the scallop.
Paint the remaining bottom part of the basket.
Remove the paper scallops and use the second color of paint to fill in the top of the basket. Allow to dry and your basket is ready!
Now that the basket is ready I filled it with all of my favorite Easter candies. I found all of these treats in the Easter section of the store at Target.
I filled the basket with Easter M&M’s White Strawberry Shortcake, Easter DOVE Peanut Butter Eggs, a DOVE Milk Chocolate Bunny, Starburst Sweet & Sour Jellybeans, and other varieties of Starburst Jellybeans. The Easter M&M’s White Strawberry Shortcake are only sold for a limited time in Target stores right now so you’ll want to grab some to try out while they are still around. They are also hosting an Easter sampling event at Super Targets on 3/20 so you can try out these delicious flavors for yourself before buying!

And remember, when the season is over you can use the basket for display in your home. A fun craft project with a sweet ending.
