Somehow it has been another week and it is time for an update on the One Room Challenge! In case you missed our first post, we are working on transforming Josiah’s bedroom into a shared bedroom space. We are hopeful that our son will be coming home from Haiti in May and are working on checking things off our list!
First up was working on updating the paint and bringing in two twin beds. We started off by giving the room a couple coats of paint in Benjamin Moores Decorators White. Once the white paint was dry I got to work taping off three out of the four walls. The room has slanted ceilings and I decided to play on the angles by painting the lower half of one wall and then tapering off the green on the two adjoining walls.
To replicate this look you will want to start by taping off the half wall. For the two adjoining walls, I measured in two feet from the opposite corner and made a small mark where I wanted the accent color to end. Then I drew a straight line from this spot on the trim up to the corner and taped it off.
The green color in the room is Scenic Drive by Benjamin Moore. I LOVE the way this brings a bit of whimsy to a children’s bedroom, but doesn’t scream “childish”. (aka – they can grow into it)
The beds are vintage metal beds are they are stunning. I have had them for sale at our Barn On 128 markets for two years and they never sold. And now I am so glad! I had said over and over again, we need someone with twins to come and buy these. Oh, the irony of that one. And can I just say that the fact they have casters on them make them even more amazing!
The quilt in the pictures are the ones I picked up for the bedroom updates. But please note that it is April and we STILL have flannel sheets on the beds. I think we just make be almost ready to switch out to cotton sheets. This has been quite the winter/spring.
Up next:
- adding lighting
- bringing in nightstands
- completing the dresser DIY
- moving in the dressers and filling the drawers
Let’s see if I can get all these things knocked off the list before the next update! In the meantime, you’ll want to head over to the ORC link up and check out the progress on all of the other one room challenges.
Always wishing you the best, xo

I agree! I love the way it plays off of the slanted ceiling!

Becky, that accent wall, painted a nontraditional way, with that vintage bed is the best juxtaposition I’ve seen in daaaaays. You are amazing, girlfriend! Can’t wait to see more!
