Today I’m going to let you in on a little family secret. Actually it’s more like a big family secret. At our Thanksgiving dinner Pumpkin Pie is not the most requested dessert. No, instead we are all on the lookout for Grandma’s Chocolate Pecan Pie. In fact not only does our family enjoy this treat but I know of many friends who remember my Grandma’s pie. It is every bit as divine as it sounds, taking a pecan pie and upping it a level with melted chocolate. You simply cannot beat this sweet treat!
Check out how to make your own Chocolate Pecan Pie on this video:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 Tbls of melted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1-1/2 cups of pecan halves
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips
- 1 pie crust
Directions: Mix first 5 ingredients, then add in pecans and chocolate chips. Pour into pie crust. Bake at 350 for 60-90 minutes. Pie is done when center reaches 200 degrees and springs back lightly when touched. Cool for 2 hours.
It’s easy to make but oh so delicious. As an extra bonus: they freeze well! Bake a couple at a time, wrap them up and freeze for a later date. When you are ready to eat pie, or looking for something to give to someone else, you are prepared! Bring the pie to room temperature, and for an added bonus heat in the oven for a few minutes.
This delicious post is part of the Battle of the Pies! A pie bake off put together by Wayfair. If you love this pie you can help me win this contest by sharing on your favorite form of social media!
