Have you seen air plants all over the internet? They seem to be popping up in all kinds of home decor, DIY and inspiration sites. There is lots of talk about air plants out there, but for plant killers like me the question remains: “Can I keep them alive?” I’m happy to report that three weeks into my venture with air plants they are still alive! And that’s a wonderful thing because I have come up with the cutest way to display them. This DIY air plants display is unlike your typical air plant terrarium or wire holder display. Instead I’m using an old electrical insulator.
Because there really are no instructions needed with this DIY you know that it really is incredibly easy. The hardest part may be finding the old insulators. Check your local antique mall or store. If they don’t have any on hand I wouldn’t be surprised if they can tell you where to find them.
To create this air plant display all you need is an electrical insulator placed inside of a galvanized coupling. Head to your local hardware store with the insulator and check to see which one fits just right. For my particular insulator I used a 2″ galvanized coupling.
It was so sturdy that I didn’t even need any glue to keep it in place. It is a heavy duty coupling and my air plant isn’t going anywhere. Set the insulator in the coupling and you are done!
How easy is that!? If you are looking for tips for watering your air plants you can check out this page as a resource.
